Oh Rats!

I made this prop over the summer. He was intended to be something else...
The teeth and fangs turned out fairly well...

It's a bit lopsided but still has some promise...

Still lookin' okay, hope is alive...

After adding the eyes it looks...just plain stupid

In case you are still wondering, the original intent was to make a lion. Kinda serpent looking now though...

And after adding the ears....ah crap! it's a rat

So I just went with it and finished off his body.Actually I really like him as a rat, and who ever heard of a Halloween lion anyway? Really!

Another Desk Dragon

This little guy sits on the shelf above my desk at work.
He had very humble beginnings...

Once I got his wings on, he started more like a dragon and less like an egg with legs.

He gets a good amount of attention... I like Him

Trophy Dragon

I started this prop well over a year ago with what ended up looking like a green reptile\horse...thing.
I never could figure out the eyes, so in my frustration he was abandoned until recently.
I ripped out his stick teeth and gave him some eyes. I used cracked glass bulbs that I got off the ends of an old curtain rod. Then I used paper clay to give this guy a proper snout. The recipe for the clay can be found at http://ultimatepapermache.com/

From the very beginning I wanted to ensure that he would have glowing eyes. I used three led's in the head that change color's from red to green to blue sequentially.

From there he received a base of black paint and finally red paint over that.

Once I got the whole head covered in clay and painted I began adding his new (more proper) teeth and some scales.

Finally last night he earned his first horns.

What cha think? I think he looks pretty menacing. Now he needs a body for next Halloween

Halloween 2010

This years Halloween was once again a total blast, and once again the yard inhabitants made some of the smaller kids cry. I really do love Halloween!
